Overview:<\/strong>
The Tiger Jawfish is a burrow-dwelling reef fish<\/strong> with a striking tiger-striped pattern<\/strong> across its elongated body. Known for its alert and watchful nature<\/strong>, this species spends much of its time hovering near the entrance of its burrow, quickly darting inside if threatened. Its fascinating behavior and bold markings make it a standout addition to a reef aquarium.<\/p>\n

Origin:<\/strong>
Found in the Indo-Pacific<\/strong>, particularly around sandy and rubble-strewn reef flats where it digs deep burrows for protection.<\/p>\n

Feeding:<\/strong>
Carnivorous \u2013 thrives on a diet of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood<\/strong>, and quality prepared marine foods. Will also hunt small crustaceans in the sand.<\/p>\n

Tank Mates:<\/strong>
Reef-safe and generally peaceful. Best kept with non-aggressive fish<\/strong> and inverts. Avoid housing with large predatory fish.<\/p>\n

Aggression:<\/strong>
Low.<\/strong> The Tiger Jawfish is shy and reclusive, spending most of its time at the burrow entrance. May be territorial toward other jawfish in small tanks.<\/p>\n

Experience Level:<\/strong>
Intermediate.<\/strong> Requires a deep sandbed (3\u20135 inches)<\/strong> and plenty of rubble or small rocks to construct burrows. Needs a secure lid, as it is prone to jumping.<\/p>\n
