The Northern Spangled Gudgeon is a striking, heavy-bodied sleeper goby known for its mottled \u201cspangled\u201d patterning and calm, deliberate behaviour. Impressive in size and presence, it makes a bold feature fish for larger freshwater or low-end brackish aquariums.<\/p>\n

Origin<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Native to northern Australia, New Guinea, and surrounding regions. Found in freshwater rivers, creeks, and estuaries, often over sandy or muddy bottoms with submerged roots or rocks.<\/p>\n

Feeding<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Carnivorous and easy to feed. Enjoys sinking carnivore pellets, frozen foods (prawn, bloodworm, mysis), and the occasional live food treat. Provide a protein-rich, varied diet.<\/p>\n

Tank Mates<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Best suited to peaceful or moderately sized tank mates. Can be kept with rainbowfish, larger tetras, peaceful cichlids, monos\/scats (if brackish), and other robust fish. Small fish or shrimp may be viewed as prey.<\/p>\n
