Cultured specimens are sustainably farmed and more adaptable to aquarium life than wild-collected individuals. Reaching around <strong data-start=\"716\" data-end=\"742\">20\u201330 cm (8\u201312 inches)<\/strong> in length, <em data-start=\"754\" data-end=\"765\">T. maxima<\/em> is the second smallest of the Tridacna species but one of the most visually striking and rewarding for reef keepers.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"902\"><strong data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"900\">Origin<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"1252\">Native to the <strong data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"940\">Indo-Pacific region<\/strong>, including the Red Sea, Fiji, Tonga, the Philippines, and the Great Barrier Reef. Found in shallow, sunlit reef flats and lagoons, often attached to hard substrates such as coral rock.
