This species is among the most colourful and sought-after clams in the marine aquarium trade. Cultured Maxima clams are <strong data-start=\"607\" data-end=\"654\">aquacultured in shallow, sunlit ocean farms<\/strong>, making them more sustainable and adaptable to aquarium life than wild specimens. Reaching up to <strong data-start=\"752\" data-end=\"778\">20\u201330 cm (8\u201312 inches)<\/strong> in length, they are smaller than other <em data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"828\">Tridacna<\/em> species but equally impressive for their vivid coloration and active filtering behaviour.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"922\" data-end=\"938\"><strong data-start=\"926\" data-end=\"936\">Origin<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"939\" data-end=\"1240\">Native to the <strong data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"976\">Indo-Pacific region<\/strong>, including Fiji, Tonga, Indonesia, and the Great Barrier Reef. Naturally found on <strong data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1093\">shallow reef flats and lagoons<\/strong> attached to hard substrates in high-light environments.
